Our school

General information

The Martin Luther School is located on the outskirts of the city of Gronau in the district "Gronauer Westen". Many different people live together here. The school district borders on the neighboring Netherlands.

Around 200 students attend the school in 8 classes and 4 all-day groups. They are currently taught by 13 primary school teachers, 3 teachers for the promotion of joint learning (GL), a social pedagogue and 8 pedagogical staff in the all-day (social pedagogues, educators, teachers). A school social worker supports us in our work by offering individual counseling for students and parents.

In cooperation with the parents, the holistic education, upbringing and support of the children is our concern. Therefore we strive

  • to support the children as individually as possible,
    • in the classroom through open forms of instruction and differentiated exercises,
    • through additional support services in German (LRS, DaZ), arithmetic (DYS) and sports (Bewegungsförderung SpoFö),
    • through supportive offers in class 1+2 (SIG) by our social pedagogue,
    • through extended support of the children participating in the pedagogical program of the all-day group (lunch, learning time, AG`s, etc.),
    • and educational work and support (agreements on the educational concept/parental contract, dispute mediation program for school children, school social work, EU school fruit program, project breakfast in class 1, etc.),
  • to enable an integrative/inclusive education of disabled and non-disabled children in GL (special educational support),
  • Honor the languages of origin (offerings in Arabic, Aramaic, Dutch, Russian, and Turkish),
  • extended religious instruction (in addition to Protestant and Catholic religious instruction, also Syrian Orthodox religious instruction and Islamic religious instruction in German),
  • prevention (theater "My body belongs to me", gender project boy/girl, preventive measure railroad, dental health week)
  • cultural offers (theater trip to Münster, participation in the Kulturstrolche project, newspaper project with the WN)
  • around an educational design of the school (schoolyard as movement area, 1-to-move, mini soccer field, traffic education course, break play area, etc.),
  • plan and carry out a lively school life (class trips, sports and games festivals, flea market, participation in competitions, etc.)
  • to offer supportive parent work (parent consultation hours of the teachers, consultation hours of the educational counseling, parent café, etc.),
  • around many cooperations in the neighborhood (church, kindergartens, city administration, sponsors, district center GroW, sports club, youth center Luise, etc.).
